Megaupload Taken Over by FBI

Megaupload.com, one of the best online file sharing website has been taken down by FBI on 19th of Jan, the day after the Internet Blackout against SOPA. Megaupload has 18 other domains and a very successful website networks including Megavideo. Megaupload is in top 100 sites in the world according to Alexa whereas MegaVideo has an Alexa of around 150.

FBI has taken down all the domains held by Kim Schmitz (Founder of MegaUpload). Kim Schmitz along with few executives have been arrested in New Zealand on the request of US officers.

Interestingly China also banned Facebook, Twitter and Youtube in the whole country, whereas Pakistani government had a ban on Facebook and partially on Youtube. It seems that the world is taking a curve regarding internet, privacy, piracy, social networking and all.

megaupload was my fav. side but knw it is taken by fbi so sad ……. :(
