Another bad news for Samsung Galaxy S users, an officer from Samsung accepted that there will be no Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) or any Value Added pack for Samsung Galaxy S users. This means that there will no ICS type experience for Galaxy S users. It was obvious that due to hardware limitations Galaxy S cannot get any ICS interface or features. Earlier there are many rumors that Samsung will provide Android 4.0 (ICS) update for Samsung S, but later on this news was taken as fake and it was proposed that Samsung will provide a value added pack for Galaxy S with some user interface and features of Ice cream Sandwich.
Although officially there is no Android 4.0 for Samsung Galaxy S but the developers at XDA forum has successfully ported the latest version of Ice cream Sandwich to Galaxy S, and almost all the features are working fine, so if you are a Galaxy S user and want to test the Android 4.0, then you can head over to this thread at XDA forum. Although this port is still not stable and is under development, but you can give it a try at your own risk.
Recently it was rumored that Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab will get an update to Android 4.0 (ICS) but Samsung has officially confirmed that there will be no ICS update for Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy S users has to be happy with only a Value update pack. This means that Galaxy users may get a ICS look alike interface or few tweaks like ICS or simply some boost in the performance.
It was a total disappointment for all the Galaxy S users when it was officially announced by Samsung that no Ice cream sandwich update will be available for them, although Samsung has promised a Value Added pack for Samsung Galaxy S users as a compensation to ICS and Galaxy S users has to be happy with such Value pack.
But if Galaxy S users still want to try Android 4.0 (ICS) on their phone then they can head over to XDA forum where, developers have already ported the latest version of ICS to Galaxy S phones.
Last week, Samsung had a statement that there will be no Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4) update for Samsung Galaxy S and 7” Galaxy Tab, but it seems that Samsung has to rectify their statement due to a negative response from Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab users. It is very much possible that Samsung will find a way out to provide the ICS update for Samsung Galaxy S and 7” Galaxy Tab.
This is a very great news for the owners of Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab, but still the US department of Samsung has not confirmed this statement, but if we believe some trustable sources than it seems to be a genuine statement by Samsung, although the date of the release of ICS for Galaxy S and Tab is yet not confirmed.
Having a quick glance on the hardware of Galaxy S, we can assume that the ICS update for Galaxy S will be a lite version of Android 4, with some features disabled that may require heavy usage of phone resources. But still everything seems blurry and we need to wait for an official statement from Samsung.
